Big Bear

We are back from Big Bear! We had a wonderful time!  There was lots of snow and it was beautiful!  It snowed on Sunday on our way up there and throughout the night. We woke up Monday morning and it looked like a winter wonderland!!  We stayed at a nice place called the Pine Knot Guest Ranch.  It was great. It was a small individual cabin with a wood burning fireplace, two separate bedrooms and a small kitchenette. Perfect for a little get away.  You could sled on the property and they even had two pet llamas, Dolly and Willow and two pet bunnies.  You could feed the animals and if it wasn't snowing, you could have even taken the llamas for a walk.  Ellie and Dave went sledding both there and at the Alpine Slide area.  They had a blast. Jacob is not too keen on flying down the hill on a plastic sled, so I got to spend LOTS of time with him in the little lodge at the Alpine Slide, playing video games.  He loves arcades! We also spent plenty of time at The Super Bear Arcade in the village. It is an old run down arcade, but the kids love it.  On Tuesday morning, Jacob really wanted to go back to Super Bear, but it was closed and didn't open until 3:00 ( it was only 12), he was seriously wanting to sit and wait until it opened!! Oh to be a kid and have no concept of time! We distracted him by finding a store that had little villages set up.  One of the villages was Halloween, which he loves almost as much as arcades!! I am proud of myself that actually did try sledding at the resort.  It was so fun!  Dave couldn't believe that I did it!  We went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks one night and went bowling the next.  The kids laughed so hard i in the movie.  It is the first theater movie that they both loved!  Ellie is a pro bowler!  The girl is unstoppable.  We bowled two games and then had a third game free. Jacob was done and asleep on Dave's shoulder, so we let Ellie bowl the last game for all of us!  We thought that she would get tired, but she didn't.  She acutally bowled a 73 without bumpers.  Not bad for a 5 year old! We had really nice family time up there in Big Bear.  Lots of happy memories!

Happy New Year!

It is so hard to believe that it is 2008 already!  Where does the time go?  We had a wonderful Christmas!  It was busy and filled with lots of activity. Some of the highlights were- Seeing the Rockettes with Nana and Ellie, seeing The Glory of Christmas with Grandma, Grandpa, Eddie and Nana, looking at lights numerous times, and watching the faces of my little loves as they sang in their Christmas program for school. Jacob's class sang "Away in a Manger" and Ellie's class sang "All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and "What Can I Give Him".  Darling! I LOVE to see children (especially my own) singing in little Christmas performances. It reminds me of when I was a little girl.
We are off to Big Bear in the morning to enjoy the cold and snow.  There is suppose to be a big storm dumping snow up there.  I am not much of a snow person, but I do think it is fun to watch Ellie and Jacob play in it.  It is a change of pace.  I just do not like all the clothes that you have to wear.  Give me the beach any day!!
I have not made any real resolutions this year. I do want to do the typical ones of losing weight and getting organized.  I figure by writing it here, I have published it and maybe I will try harder this year.
I hope you all are happy and healthy and enjoying life!  CHEERS!
